Until somebody poison the food in their garden :)

A very very nice idea, even though I only see this working (in practical terms) among friends.

Interesting point, but maybe a little paranoid? Haha, I’m not aware of people intentionally poisoning random strangers. They shoot them with guns instead. At least in the US.

Maybe a little paranoid, yes :) But the reason to buy food from licensed places is that they are ~~supposed to be~~ controlled to meet certain standards, from the FDA for example. If you take food from a stranger you have no guarantees whatsoever… it could be full of pesticides or any kind of pollutant (classical example: food grown with unfiltered/polluted water. Today, almost any well, river, or lake is polluted and must be filtered). And if you get sick, you rack up hospital bills and you can’t even sue the person who gave you the poisoned food.

I’m not against community gardens or this project to improve distributions, in fact I think they are very cool. What I’m trying to say is that a lot more emphasis should be put into letting the users know exactly where the food comes from, such that I (the consumer) can decide if I trust the people and the land who grew that food.

I also thought this was a bit too paranoid at first. But it’s well documented that some people enjoy spreading their HIV/AIDS on purpose to other people, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some weirdos decided to sell poisoned food for fun.
