Positive discrimination is good because it gives more chances for disenfranchised groups. The goal is not so much “let’s make the best software with the top talents” as it is “let’s make something good with a positive impact in the community”.

I think a lot of engineers get so caught up with trying to make things that are efficient and perfect that they lose sight of the community at large.

“Open source projects were, in my experience, already some of the most welcoming and inclusive environments in which to work.”

Said able white cis man.
“Leave your views at the door” doesn’t work when you make decisions because we’re not the robots who write ones and zeroes.

All this community bullshit has to stop. It is about the code and about the money.
