F-Droid app recommendation thread?

I just got a new phone and I’m taking suggestions on cool apps the kids are using these days

I started putting together a blog post on this last month and it’s literally the only post on my unfinished site, ha.

http://mistahdarcy.com/post/best-android-apps-fdroid/

Blokada! AnySoftKeyboard. Tusky (disclaimer: I’m one of the developers). Book Reader. Forecastie. MySplash. Orbit. Everything NextCloud.

I don’t see any Orbit app. But Tusky looks interesting. Does it work for GNUSocial?

Sorry, Orbot.
Tusky works with Mastodon API (so Masto and Pleroma)

I’m torn between Tusky and Twidere. Does Tusky offer more features?

Because Twidere is multi-network thing you get the lowest common denominator.
With Tusky we try to keep Mastodon vibe and deliver the best possible UX. We’re lagging behind Mastalab in features, tho

Which features, might I ask?

I think it’s too much to list but we still don’t have streaming, missing some filtering, some list support, pinned statuses support.

Twidere for me works only with Twitter. Mastodon and GNU social are broken on my device.

I’m using Pleroma and Twidere works flawlessly for it.

  • red moon
  • vlc
  • AntennaPod is a great podcatcher
  • DNS66 helps you to blog ads and protect your privacy
  • Document Viewer for PDF files
  • Fennec the free and non-spying Firefox
  • Lawnchair launcher
  • Predometer the cloud.less and private step counter
  • Simple Draw for quick notes and sketches
  • WIFI Automatic turns your wifi on/off on certain events to prevent WLAN MAC tracking in shops etc.
  • Pixel Dungeon is a great rogue like.

Less is more. Install only what you need. Chances are, you won’t use most of the apps that you install.

Sure thing, but with a new device it is a good oppurtunity to desicover new things you suddenly use every day!

Games: PlanetCon, Frozen Bubble, Puzzles, 2048

My fav game is Tanks of Freedom

Tanks of Freedom is a blast!

Wish it had better graphics. It’s very pixelated, very difficult to distinguish units in the game.

Mainly:

internet radio
k9mail
twidere
firefox klar
ghost commander

I would add Vanilla Music and Transportr to the already suggested apps.
