I don't really understand why he needs a proprietary protocol/software... If `wget` is topped at 2.5MB/s and aspera reaches 35MB/s, then it must be the ftp server that is limiting the download speed. There is no magic, his bandwidth is the limit, aspera can't get faster than that... I've just tried it myself: `wget` I'm getting 2MB/s, multiple simultaneous connections with `aria2c` I'm getting 8MB/s (it's the max for me, I can't get faster than that).
